What is Re-Natured?

The word renature means to restore something to its natural state.  Normal life often leaves us disconnected with our natural state of being in nature, noticing the seasons and finding peace.  I hope that by taking time to slow down and engage with nature through Forest Bathing, art and using your senses you will feel the benefits and become renatured.

What are the benefits of connecting to nature?

There is an increasing amount of research into the benefits of Forest Bathing and connecting with nature.  These can include reducing stress and blood pressure, improving concentration and memory, improving mood and boosting the immune system.

For children and young people, Forest School leaders and outdoor educators see first hand the benefits they experience when they are outside exploring.  Their mental health and wellbeing improves, they become more independent and curious about learning.  They connect with the world around them as well as having the physical benefit of moving around a woodland.

As we connect with nature, it follows that we want to know more about it and then to look after it.  This is one of my greatest joys, to see children and adults become excited by something they've noticed.

Sir David Attenborough put this so well when he said:

“If children don’t grow up knowing about nature and appreciating it, they will not understand it. And if they don’t understand it, they won’t protect it. And if they don’t protect it, who will?”

The events page has a variety of activities for adults as well as families from silent Forest Bathing to being creative with natural art and seeing the woodland from different perspectives!

I hope there is something for everyone.
